Ateman's Secret Won't Last
Year in and year out there are few positions that can match the talent that Jay Norvell gets to oversee at Oklahoma's camp. The fourth-year Sooner assistant each summer brings in top flight talent from all over the Big 12 region and this year one of his headliners was Wylie (Texas) East star Marcell Ateman. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound prospect showed up in Norman with an Arizona offer yet little fanfare.
He left as one of the camp's top performers showing off good hands, good burst for such a large receiver and the ability to use his massive frame to overwhelm smaller defensive backs.
While not a lot of people knew his name outside of the Sooner coaches, he was already familiar with Norman.
"The trip went good, I really liked it. It was my first time at Oklahoma for a camp but I had actually went up there for to go look at the facility and got to watch a game against Iowa State last season," Ateman said.
