Whether by ineptitude on the field (Maryland) or off (North Carolina), neither the Terps nor the Tar Heels will be participating in a postseason bowl game this year. Maryland (4-7) has been sitting on four wins since mid-October and has since dropped five straight games, leaving them out of the bowl discussion. North Carolina, on the other hand, should be heading to a bowl given its 7-4 record, but the Heels were hit with NCAA sanctions before the season that rendered them ineligible for postseason play.
