COLLEGE PARK -- After a rather sluggish first half, Maryland turned on the jets and came away with a decisive 86-70 victory against Niagara during the first round of the NIT at the Comcast Center. With the win, No. 2 seed Maryland advances to the second round and will host No. 3 seed Denver -- which defeated Ohio 67-56 -- on Thursday night.
