Arizona State held its Scout Bowl scrimmage at the end of Thursday's practice and while a number of players stood out, one youngster in particular made a truly significant impression. Linebacker Oliver Aaron's only BCS offer coming out of Florida's Gainesville High School was ASU, but it's now looking as though a lot of schools missed a potential future star.

Aaron's only other offers were from Bethune-Cookman and Florida International, due in part to academic concerns and college coaches simply missing him among all of the state's elite talent.

After a strong Scout Bowl in which he had numerous tackles and a interception return for a touchdown, it's looking increasingly likely the 6-foot-2, 205 pound Aaron is the heir apparent to star senior weakside linebacker Robert James.

"It's just a wonderful opportunity to come out and show that all of coach Bray's teaching and everything wasn't in vain," Aaron said of his performance. "When I first got here, I really didn't know anything. I was kind of doubting myself. It's a big self-accomplishment but also I think, I hope, I showed the coaches when they need someone to step up, I'm going to be ready.
