If John Sterling had been announcing the end of the game at Alumni Stadium Saturday night, he might have said the following:

"Ballgame over, national championship dreams over, Heisman Trophy over …"

We'll spare you the Seminoles win part. You all know that part. But the other stuff … well, it's all gone.

Got news for ya - it probably was never there. Because unless LSU and/or Oregon did NOT run the table, Boston College probably wasn't going to play for the national championship, anyway. It was a nice thought, but it wasn't going to happen.

Here's the thing though - despite what you might think of your team this morning, the ACC title and the Orange Bowl is still very much within reach; and that goes back to what I've been saying all along. There's no way this BC team was the second-best team in the country. The 8-0 was nice, but it also included some shaky stuff and some wins over some shaky teams.
