ON RICH: Destined to be an all-star for the Seminoles and a standout player in the Atlantic Coast Conference during the remaining two years of his career at Florida State...has displayed the offensive and defensive capabilities that will place him in the top tier of players in the ACC as he leads the Seminoles to a consistent spot in the upper echelon of the league and the nation...has started 40 games in the first two years of his career and will be a member of the Seminoles' starting lineup as a junior...earned All-ACC Freshman Team Honorable Mention honors by the ACC Area Sports Journal after a strong first season as a Seminole...changed his uniform number to 25 for the 2006-07 season after the number was vacated by the graduation of Diego Romero...wore the No. 25 as a high school breakout game came with 20 points, three rebounds and two steals in a career-high 39 minutes of play as Florida State took No. 2 ranked Duke to the limit before falling in overtime, 97-96, in one of the most memorable games of the 2005-06 college basketball season...was nearly unstoppable as he made 10 of 18 field goal attempts and combining with teammate Al Thornton for 57 points in a truly amazing performance by the entire Seminole team...totaled eight first half points to energize the Seminoles to a 45-43 halftime lead...it marked only the second time in school history the Seminoles one steal in the extra session of basketball...scoring performance was his first 20-point scoring outing on the road and helped him announce presence as one of the ACC's top players...three points (all from the free throw line) and a team-leading nine rebounds as the Seminoles defeated No. 1 ranked Duke in Tallahassee (March 1)...all three points came late in the second half as Florida State tied the game at 72-72 with 1:42 remaining in the game...drew fouls on Sean Dockery (3:12) and Lee Melchionni (1:42) late in the game as two Blue Devils fouled out of the game and two more had four fouls when the game ended...the foul he drew on Melchionni with 1:42 left in the game came on a very important defensive rebound after a missed 3-point shot by DeMarcus Nelson...Florida State outscored Duke, 14-7, in the last five minutes of the game to gain the victory...(vs. Georgia Tech): scored 12 points, pulled down two rebounds and was credited with four assists in Florida State's come-from-behind victory over Georgia Tech...credited with one big blocked shot and a second huge defensive play in the final six seconds of the Seminoles' victory over Georgia Tech in Tallahassee (Feb. 9)...with six seconds remaining in the game, Rich blocked a 3-point shot attempt by the Yellow Jacket's Lewis Clinch which, if the shot had gone in, would had given Georgia Tech the lead. On the ensuing play (after he blocked the ball out of bounds) he defended Tech's Anthony Morrow to the outside of the court where Morrow stepped on the sidelined and turned the ball over to the Seminoles...it was one of Rich's career-high 10 blocked shots on the season and maybe the most important of the fist two years of his career...added 10 second half points as Florida State erased as much as a 14-point second half deficit...helped begin the Seminoles' comeback after they trailed by 14 (56-70) with 9:17 left in the game...assisted on a jumper by Isaiah Swann to cut the Seminoles' deficit to 12 with 9:02 left and then scored two consecutive baskets in the next 51 seconds to pull Florida State to within eight (62-70) with 7:41 left it he game...added two free throws at the 4:47 mark to pull Florida State to within five at 67-72...added an assist on an Alexander Johnson Dunk to close the deficit to three (71-74) with 4:05 remaining...Florida State took the lead on a 3-point shot by Andrew Wilson with 1:32 left to put the score at 80-79 which turned out to be the final score of the game...the Seminole lead then set up Rich for the defensive stand of the season...(vs. Maryland): scored six points and was credited with three assists and two rebounds in Florida State's only game during the season against NIT participant Maryland...four first half points and two in the second half as the Seminoles defeated Maryland in Tallahassee (Feb. 22), 71-60, to improve to 17-7 overall and 7-6 in the ACC...scored four of Florida State's first seven points to give the Seminoles a 7-4 lead with only 2:42 elapsed in the game...the Seminoles led the rest of the way, won the game going away and were up by as many as 20 in the second half...(vs. Miami): averaged 13.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in two games against NIT participant Miami...totaled 20 points on eight of 11 shooting from the field against Miami in Tallahassee (Jan. 29)...was the first time in his career that he had scored 20 or more points in a single game and the first of three times he scored at least 20 points during the 2005-06 season...did the majority of his scoring damage after halftime as he scored 16 points to help the Seminoles recover from as much as a seven point deficit to tie the game and send it into overtime...biggest play of the game was an assist on an inbounds pass to Alexander Johnson for a lay-up that tied the game with one second remaining in regulation to tie the game at 69-69...sent a perfectly timed alley-oop pass to Johnson who scored the bucket jut before the clock hit zero...scored seven points in the first five minutes of the send half to help the Seminoles reclaim the lead at the 15:08 mark (40-39...Rich tied the game and put Florida State up, 40-39, with a pair of free throws...he scored seven of the Seminoles first 14 points of the second half...added six points during the remainder as he tried to will the Seminoles to the rebound in 15 minutes of play in the Seminoles only game of the season against NC State...all six points came in the second half as NC State defeated Florida State in Raleigh (Feb. 15)...(vs. Virginia): averaged 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games against NIT participant Virginia...scored in double figures and shot a combined 10 of 18 (.556) in both victories over the Cavaliers during the season...totaled 12 points, for rebounds and for assists in 35 minutes against Virginia as the Seminoles won in overtime in Charlottesville (Jan. 11), 87-82...scored six first half points, four in the second half and two in the overtime period as the Seminoles gained their second ACC victory of the season...his two points in overtime (on two of two free throws) with two seconds remaining on the clock were his most pivotal points of the game and gave Florida State an insurmountable lead at 87-82 which proved to be the final score of the game...four points on two dunks within a two minutes span in the second half gave the Seminoles a five point lead at 54-49...defensively he blocked a career-high two shots with both coming in the second half...began the second half with a block of an jumper by Adrian Joseph that allowed Florida State to keep a 47-45 advantage...a second block came only one minutes late an a lay-up attempt by Tunji Soroye and allowed Florida State to keep a five point advantage at 50-45...the missed opportunities by the Cavaliers loomed large late in the second half as Florida State needed to recover from a five-point deficit in the final 3:18 of regulation to tie the game at 77-77 and send it into overtime...double figures for the third consecutive game against Virginia (he also scored 10 points against Virginia on March 6, 2005) as he totaled 10 points and three rebounds as the Seminoles defeated the Cavaliers, 76-62, in Tallahassee (Feb. 18)...the +14 point margin of victory was the Seminoles largest ACC margin of victory during the season...scored six of the Seminoles first 16 points of the game to help Florida State to a 16-5 bulge with 13:29 still left in the first half...a jumper with 4:02 left in the half allowed Florida the last 35 seconds of the game after the Demon Deacons had closed to within three with just over three minutes left in the game...his first two free throw shots put the Seminoles up seven with 35 seconds remaining and his third closed the Deacons out and gave the Seminoles a 74-68 advantage...scored seven points and added two rebounds against Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament (March 9) in the Greensboro Coliseum...scored four points in the first half to stake Florida State to a 40-32 lead...Wake Forest redeemed themselves in the second half and won the game, 78-66, to advance to the quarterfinal of the tournament...(vs. Butler and South Carolina in the NIT): averaged 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in Florida State's two games against Butler and South Carolina as the Seminoles advanced to the second round of the NIT...scored his career-high of 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds as he nearly totaled his second career double-double against Butler in the first round of the NIT in Tallahassee (March 17)...his scoring performance allowed him to earn team-high scoring honors for the fourth time during his sophomore season...his scoring output allowed the Seminoles to offset the off-night by lading scorer Al Thornton who totaled only five points in the Seminoles' 67-63 victory...was a scoring terror in the second half as he scored 18 of Florida State's 34 points in the half to allow the Seminoles to survive and advance to the second round of the NIT...scored 10 of the Seminoles' first 17 points of the second half to allow Florida State to keep their lead until late in the half...a dunk (his 10th point of the second half) with 12:32 remaining in the game put the Seminoles up 50-43...an old fashioned three-point play at the 6:09 mark with a lay-up and the only game against Florida during the 2005-06 season...all eight points came in the second half as the Seminoles battled the Gators in Gainesville (Nov. 25).
