August 24, 2013Oklahoma State has added another Texas quarterback with former Plano quarterback Richard Lagow transferring to start this semester. The 6-6, 220-pound Lagow signed with Connecticut and reported to school in August but the UConn relationship has been been evolving since UConn switched offensive coordinators after Lagow committed the summer before his senior year.
Lagow enrolls as a walk-on athlete at Oklahoma State but will not be eligible until 2014. Lago adds to Oklahoma State's roster of #txhsfb quarterbacks with J.W. Walsh of Denton Guyer taking over as starter to start the season with a strong opening game performance last week.
Lagaw committed to UConn but didn't sign until after last February's signing day. UConn's new offensive coordinator T.J. Weist wanted a more mobile quarterback but UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni still saw a fit. After reporting to UConn, Lagow opted for a transfer closer to North Texas.
At Plano, Lagow completed 109-of-183 passes for 1,970 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions as a senior. He also was tourney MVP as he led Plano to the Fox Sports State 7-on-7 championship in 2012. Lagow has always had strong Oklahoma ties, but the Cowboys evaluated him at Plano but didn't offer. His dad, Kyle Lagow, grew up grew up Eufaula, OK. before moving to Temple, TX.
