Neuheisel on recruiting class - Part II
In part two, UCLA’s head coach Rick Neuheisel talks about each new Bruin signed. It is obvious that Neuheisel is very pleased with the newest edition of UCLA Bruins and expects great things in the future. Next up will be part three and that is Neuheisel taking questions.
“We talked about Anthony Barr, we have him listed as an athlete and the reason we list him as an athlete is he can play a variety of positions. Anthony has been interested in some spots on defense. He is also interested in still carrying on as a running back and so rather than list him at a particular position, we thought it just wise to say okay we are going to find where you can play first and where Barr can play the fastest. Being 6-4, and 225 pounds, there’s a lot of coaches saying, ‘I’ll take him’, so it is an exciting thing to have him in the fold.
“Derrick Bryant from Columbus (Ohio) Brookhaven is a defensive end. I think in going back there and seeing him and having him on campus, he has great shoulders. You can hang clothes on his shoulders. He has the perfect frame. He’s 240 pounds as we speak and he could easily be a 260 to 280 pound guy before too much more time passes. He has that kind of frame. He loves to work out. He’s a great student. He’s just an ideal guy and was highly sought after on that side of the country. There may have been some reservations early, but once we went on him, a number of schools, including North Carolina and Oregon tried hard to get in on him and to no avail, so we are excited about Derrick Bryant.
