Off week allows Jiles to visit MSU
Cedric Jiles' bye week could not have fallen at a better time at Clinton (Miss.)
With the Arrows being off on Friday it will allow the three-star cornerback to make the trip to Starkville to watch Mississippi State take on LSU Thursday night.
"Those are two of my favorite teams and I just know it's going to be a dogfight," Jiles said. "I want to see which one is going to come out on top."
Jiles has been committed to the Bulldogs since early June but that has not prevented other schools from continuing to come after him.
"I'm still hearing from other schools," Jiles said. "I'm a verbal commit but they are still talking to me. I'm still listening to them and keeping an open mind at the same time. I'm going to be at Starkville at State right now but I'm still staying open-minded."
The six-foot, 180-pounder watched MSU's 41-34 loss to Auburn this past weekend and kept a close eye on the Bulldogs cornerbacks.
"I thought it was a pretty good game," Jiles said. "It came down to the offense executing the plays. I'm not too sure about that game but I feel pretty confident in them. The offense didn't execute but the defense played good - the cornerbacks anyways. I was watching the corners to see how they played. I just watched them throughout the game."
So far this season Jiles has recorded 19 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and two fumbles recoveries - one of which he returned for a touchdown. On offense he was carries three times for 21 yards and made two catches for 11 yards. Jiles also has returned one kickoff for 10 yards and a punt for 19 yards helping Clinton to an early 2-2 record.
