2013 ATH talks SU offer
When it is the start of the recruiting process some prospects do not know what position they will play in college because they run both ways in high school. One prospect that was just offered by Syracuse is in that position, his name Jake Butt from Pickerington (Ohio) North High School.
"They [Syracuse] offered not last week, but the week before," Butt said. "I was very excited. My coach actually told me during practice in the middle of a play."
With it being so early in the process for Butt he has not made a visit to Syracuse. He does plan on attending one of the Orange's Junior Days."
As it stand though he already knows a few items about Syracuse.
"They're a great school with a great football program. I have only heard good things about their campus."
The Orange were not the first program to offer Butt they join a list of six other schools.
"I have received other offers from Bowling Green, Toledo, Buffalo, Kent State, UCLA, and Duke."
When it comes to his college position he is really not sure where he will play at the next level. That is something that does not bother the product because he has played many different positions.
"Don't know at this point. I tell all the colleges wherever they need me I will play. I look at it like I am a football player not a tight end or defensive end," Butt stated. "To be honest I couldn't pick I've played literally every position other than running back in my career up to this point and loved every position. I just love being out on the field."
The process for Butt will not be a short one.
"I mean it is early so I think I'll know when I need to make the decision but it won't be any time soon."
