Maryland received a commitment from Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek two-star WR MJ Jarrell, he announced on Twitter Thursday evening.

The 6-foot-2 receiver visited Maryland with his mother for the Terps' Red-White game back in April and almost committed on the spot.

“There was a part of me that was very interested in committing,” Jarrell told TSR back in April. “All of the coaches were friendly. The campus was beautiful. Everything was heading in the right direction and we kind of broke down why I was a priority and how much I’m needed in the offense that they’re trying to run. And I’d have the opportunity to come in and play right away so that was actually a big thing."

With 26 offers in all, Jarrell chose the Terps over programs such as Duke, Indiana, Louisville, NC State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Jarrell becomes the third wide receiver to commit in the Terps' 2017 class, all of them 6-foot-2 or taller, as Maryland looks to revamp the position with bigger targets.

Maryland head coach D.J. Durkin has had success recruiting Florida since taking over in College Park. Jarrell is the seventh player from the Sunshine State to commit to Durkin, not including five-star Josh Kaindoh and four-star Cam Spence of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy who both originally hail from the DMV.

With the addition of Jarrell, the Terps' 10-man class now sits at No. 10 nationally in the Rivals team rankings.
