Future Maryland guard Kevin Huerter was one of 26 players invited to the 2016 USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team training camp on Wednesday.

Huerter, a four-star shooting guard who this past season was named Mr. Basketball for New York, recently saw his ranking jump up to No. 59 nationally in the final Rivals rankings.

The 6-foot-5 Huerter is one of three incoming freshman signed to Maryland ranked inside the Rivals top 100. Huerter along with point guard Anthony Cowan and small forward Micah Thomas make up the No. 15-ranked class nationally according to Rivals.

Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon is an assistant coach for the USA Basketball U18 National Team and along with Connecticut head coach Kevin Ollie will serve under Texas head coach Shaka Smart. Turgeon was a court coach during last year's U18 training camp.

Turgeon will also get the chance to coach several Maryland 2017 prospects during the training camp, including five-star shooting guard MJ Walker and five-star small forward Kris Wilkes.

The initial training camp to determine finalists for the USA U18 National Team will take place June 14-18 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The USA U18 team will compete in the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship July 19-23 in Valdivia, Chile with the top four teams earning a qualifying berth in the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship.
