Oxon Hill (Md.) Potomac four-star defensive back Deon Jones is the 11th player to commit to Maryland’s 2017 class. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound local recruit made his announcement July 6 on the Sports Entertainment Network.

Jones’ decision came down to Maryland and Clemson, but ultimately the hometown school prevailed. The rising senior has built a strong relationship with his area recruiter and Terps defensive backs coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim and he adds to the slew of DMV recruits to pledge to Maryland in his class.

The Terps are also targeting Jones’ teammate, running back Tayon Fleet-Davis, and landing a fellow Potomac product could help put Maryland on the inside track for his services.

With another Rivals250 prospect now headed to College Park in 2017, Maryland could end up with its best recruiting class of the Rivals era.

Terrapin Sports Report will have more soon on the Jones commitment.
