Terps host five-star hoops visitor

Maryland on Wednesday played host to Dallas (Texas) Prime Prep five-star power forward Billy Preston sources close to his recruitment told TSR.
Preston, a California native, is the second five-star visitor of the week for Maryland. The Terps also hosted the No. 1 player in the 2016 class, Josh Jackson, on Monday. Both are in the Mid-Atlantic area for the Under Armour Elite 24, which will take place in Brooklyn this Saturday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. ET and be televised live on ESPNU.

Terp fans first learned of Preston's interest in Maryland when he spoke with TSR at the NBPA Top 100 camp back in June where he talked about his close relationship with incoming Terps five-star center Diamond Stone.
"I hope to hear from Maryland, since my boy is going there-Diamond Stone," Preston told TSR back in June.
When TSR caught up with Preston once again in July at the Under Armour All-America Camp, Maryland assistant coach Dustin Clark had reached out to Preston, but he had yet to speak with the Maryland staff due to his hectic summer schedule.
But the 6-foot-9, 220-pound face-up power forward made it clear that Maryland was a school he definitely intended on considering.
"I would consider going to Maryland," Preston said. "They're a good program-a great program actually. I don't know much about them but what I've seen about the basketball program and what I've heard so far and what I've witnessed, it's a great program to me, and I mean, it's not a school that I wouldn't want to go to. They'll definitely be in consideration."
Preston and Terps commit Anthony Cowan formed one of the best inside-out duos at the Under Armour camp in Charlotte. The two regularly ran the pick-and-roll which proved to be extremely difficult to stop due to Cowan's ability to penetrate and Preston's ability to knock down outside shots.
According to Preston, Maryland is one of the schools that has been recruiting him the hardest. He is currently the No. 6-ranked player overall in the 2017 Rivals150.
