HYATTSVILLE, Md. -- Maryland has already established one pipeline when it comes to recruiting in nearby Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha, but D.J. Durkin and his staff are working on building another just south of College Park at Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan, which has already yielded three 2017 commits and a 2018 pledge for the Terps.

But looking ahead a few years down the road, Maryland has positioned itself nicely by being one of the first to offer Bishop Sullivan’s standout 2020 cornerback Keontae Jenkins. Virginia Tech was the first to ante up when the Hokies offered Jenkins last summer, but Florida State and Maryland came calling next by both extending scholarships May 12.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pound Jenkins is aware of Maryland’s heavy recruitment of his high school and the bond Terps wide receivers coach Chris Beatty is able to build with prospects from the Tidewater Region.
