Maryland came out in the first quarter against UCF and looked like a team that was ready to battle. Then Kasim Hill went down with a season-ending injury and the wheels fell off for the Terps, as they fell 38-10 to the Golden Knights in their final non-conference game of the season.

D.J. Moore had another big game on offense, hauling in a career-high eight catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. This despite losing a second starting quarterback this season during the first quarter of the game.

On defense, Josh Woods led the Terps with seven tackles, while Antoine Brooks was flying all over the field once again, posting five solo tackles including one tackle for a loss.

Post UCF Terrapin Ten
Rank Name Why?

1.

D.J. Moore

Moore remains in the top spot after another stellar performance in an otherwise ugly game. He grabbed a career-high 8 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown despite losing starting QB Kasim Hill in the 1st quarter. Last Week: 1

2.

Ty Johnson

Johnson remains the Terps' leader with 492 all-purpose yards through three games. But Johnson struggled in the run game, with 11 carries for a paltry 25 yards, or just 2.3 yards per carry. Last Week: 2

3.

Jermaine Carter Jr.

Carter Jr. remains a leader of the defense and one of the most consistent Terps on either side of the ball as he finished with 6 tackles and was in on one tackle for loss versus UCF. He leads the Terps with 21 tackles through three games. Last Week: 3

4.

Antoine Brooks

Brooks was all over the field once again versus UCF. Whether he was in the box pressuring the QB or out in coverage, Brooks was always near the football. He finished with 5 tackles, all solo, including a tackle for loss. Last Week: 4

5.

Darnell Savage

Darnell Savage moves up 4 spots after another strong outing in which he finished with 6 solo tackles and a pass breakup. Savage, a senior, seems to have taken on a leadership role for a secondary that continues to improve. Last Week: 9

6.

JC Jackson

JC Jackson reemerges on this list after a solid outing against UCF, in which he had 5 tackles and a pass breakup. Jackson has been physical with receivers on the outside and has done a good job of staying with his man. Last Week: NR

7.

Taivon Jacobs

Taivon Jacobs didn't do much against UCF after seemingly emerging as a solid No. 2 option the previous two weeks. He finished with just 2 catches for 10 yards with five targets. He needs to establish some chemistry with new starting QB Max Bortenschlager going forward. Last Week: 7

8.

Derwin Gray

The O-line did not have a good day against UCF, giving up 5 sacks. That said, the entire O-line have been put in a tough position as they are now on to their third quarterback. Gray remains on the list due to his play in previous weeks, but he must improve in Big Ten play. Last Week: 6

9.

Shane Cockerille

While Cockerille finished with a respectable 6 tackles and 2 pass break ups, stats don't tell the entire story. Cockerille struggled mightily in coverage with UCF tight ends that were split out wide. He was lost on several big pass plays by UCF's tight ends. Last Week: 8

10.

Josh Woods

Senior safety Josh Woods has quietly put together a solid season to date. He finished with a team-high 7 tackles in the loss to UCF and now has 15 tackles and a pass breakup on the season. This is his first appearance on the list. Last Week: NR
