Maryland senior forward Jake Layman was selected by the Orlando Magic and subsequently traded to the Portland Trailblazers with the No. 47 overall pick in the second round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night.

A two-time All-Big Ten pick from Wrentham, Mass., Layman helped the Terps to back-to-back NCAA births for the first time under head coach Mark Turgeon.

As a senior, the 6-foot-9 Layman averaged 11.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He tied a career-high with 27 points in the Terps' win over South Dakota State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Layman capped his Maryland career ranked 18th in points (1,436) and rebounds (674) and is one of only 12 players in school history to record 1,400 points and 600 rebounds. He also finished his college career tied with Terps legend Juan Dixon for the most games played at Maryland (114).

Layman was the second Maryland player selected in the 2016 draft, joining Diamond Stone and marking the first time multiple Terps were selected in the same draft since Chris Wilcox, Juan Dixon and Lonny Baxter were all selected in 2002.
