The Hammond twins committed to Maryland on Monday afternoon after taking in Maryland's come-from-behind win over USC while on a campus visit Saturday.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Asaiah chose the Terps over offers from the likes of Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. But Maryland was the lone Power Four offer for 6-foot-2, 205-pound twin brother Alijah, making the decision a rather easy one for a duo that wanted to continue at the same college.

Maryland first offered the Hammond twins back in May and hosted them on their official visit in June, leaving the Terps in excellent shape leading up to their commitment.

Asaiah is a defensive lineman with a long frame which should allow him to add significant weight and play along the interior once he arrives in College Park.

Alijah, a two-way player who began as a wide receiver, is now also playing outside linebacker on the defensive side of the ball for the Cardinals. Due to his size, he could play either linebacker or safety for the Terps, possibly filling the nickel role down the road.

With the addition of the Hammond twins, the Terps now have 23 total commits for

The Hammond twins become the 22nd and 23rd overall commits in the Terps' 2025 recruiting class and now bring the total number of in-state commits in the class to 13. They also join three-star tight end JT Taggart as the 2nd and 3rd commits from Calvert Hall.
