Maryland’s Homecoming weekend not only gave the Terps football team a chance to flex its muscle, but it also helped the basketball program in College Park make progress on its 2017 recruiting class.

The Terps got their 2017 class off to a big start Oct. 1 by receiving their first commitment from 6-foot-10, four-star power forward Bruno Fernando, who visited College Park for the first time. But the Maryland coaching staff and players were also busy hosting one of the Terps’ top guard targets--Baltimore (Md.) Mount St. Joseph four-star Darryl Morsell--while he was on his official visit.

“It went well,” Morsell said of his official to Maryland. “I spent a lot more time with the players and the coaches. We went out to dinner. I got to play pickup with them a little bit. And we went to the football game on campus.”
