Although Mark Turgeon didn't offer Morsell until this past July, he made the four-star combo guard a top priority throughout the summer and fall.

Rivals national basketball recruiting analyst Eric Bossi was able to watch Morsell throughout the month of July and believes his style of play is perfectly suited for the Big Ten.

"By recruiting world standards, Morsell is a bit of a late bloomer but the reality is his ascension up the ranks and into the spotlight had more to do with people finally getting a good look at him than him suddenly turning into a four-star prospect," said Bossi. "What I like about him is that he's a physically rugged dude who can play at either the shooting or point guard position and that he's explosive in the lane. He's going to be able to take bumps at the Big Ten level without it hurting what he wants to do."

While Morsell's ability to play a more rugged style should certainly help Maryland in Big Ten play, the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder also showed the ability to knock down mid-range, as well as three-point shots during the summer.

"In addition to his explosive play in the lane, he's also a good mid range jump shooter and I also like that he's more worried about substance over style," said Bossi. "I really just got to see him during the latter part of the summer and he's one that I'm really looking forward to seeing more of as a senior."

With freshman Anthony Cowan a quicker, smaller point guard and Kevin Huerter more of an outside shooting wing, Morsell certainly seems to bring a different skill set to the Terps and should be able to carve out a role in Maryland's lineup once he arrives in College Park.

The Terps now have a pair of commits who's games have taken major strides in recent months and while they might not be of the one-and-done variety, they certainly have a chance to not only be immediate contributors for Maryland, but multi-year starters.

"With Morsell and big man Bruno Fernando in the fold, Maryland has a great base of long term players who have the tools to emerge as multiple year starters during their time with the Terps," Bossi said. "If the recent reports on Fernando and the improvement of his skill level are true, then the class is also one where both guys have good shots to move up in the final rankings next spring."
