Update: Queen refuted Zagoria’s report that he is set to announce his commitment , posting on X, “I am not committing on Friday!!!!!!!!!”
Five-star center Derik Queen is finally ready to wrap up his recruitment and has set a date for his college announcement, according to a report from Adam Zagoria.
Queen will make his college announcement at the end of the week between two schools, Montverde Academy (Fla.) head coach Kevin Boyle reportedly told Zagoria.
"Five-star center Derik Queen is expected to announce Friday between Indiana and Maryland, Boyle said," Zagoria wrote in a Forbes article published on Wednesday.
Queen completed his final official visit to Maryland last Sunday.
Indiana head coach Mike Woodson was in Florida to see Queen on Tuesday, while Maryland head coach Kevin Willard, lead recruiter David Cox and the rest of the Terps staff was expected in Florida to make their final pitch on Wednesday.
Houston, where Queen took an officially visit prior to visiting Maryland last weekend, was also believed to still be in the mix but that appears to no longer be the case according to the report.
Kevin Willard and the Terps, who brought in one of the nation’s top recruiting classes this year, are still looking for their first commit for 2024.
