Pigrome named Maryland starting quarterback
Maryland released the first depth chart of the season on Monday with sophomore quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome sitting atop the two-deep, earning the start Saturday at No. 23 Texas.

Pigrome beat out true freshman Kasim Hill, whom he competed with for the starting job throughout fall camp, each taking reps with the first-team offense.

Pigrome saw action in 11 of Maryland's 13 games as a true freshman, receiving his first and only career start in a 31-10 home loss to Minnesota. Pigrome was 18-of-37 for 161 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions through the air with a team-high 71 yards on the ground versus the Golden Gophers.
The 5-foot-11, 196-pound Pigrome finished the 2016 season third on the team in rushing yards (254) and in rushing touchdowns (4).
