Outside Linebacker

6-foot-5, 205 pounds

Olney, Md.

Good Counsel

WHAT HE DID - Eley missed most of his senior season, but as a junior for Good Counsel, he recorded 66 tackles in nine games. A dozen of those tackles came against Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College High and another 12 were in a meeting with Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara. He also proved to be a solid pass rusher throughout his high school career.

WHAT HE WON - Eley is a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. He is ranked as the 45th outside linebacker nationally and the 15th player out of the state of Maryland in the 2017 class.

WHERE HE VISITED - Eley was a popular recruit for Big Ten teams. Besides Maryland, Eley also held offers within the conference from Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska and Penn State. North Carolina, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia Tech and West Virginia also anted up for the athletic pass rusher. He visited Florida with his four-star teammate Josh Paschal not long before committing to the Terps last April.

QUOTABLE - On why he chose Maryland:

"After going up there a few times, the relationships I have with the coaches, watching the defense and my position being played is something I could see myself doing. It’s a great school and you can get a great education. I just felt it was the right spot. No other place that I’ve been to feels like Maryland. Coach Barnes and I have a really close relationship. We talk almost every day and it’s not just about football. My recruiter is coach Beatty and we talk a lot too. I also talk to coach Aazaar, coach Durkin, and really everybody a lot. That’s one of the reasons why I’m choosing Maryland. It’s like a family environment. Everybody is involved with everything."
