Shortly after both committing to Maryland Aug. 4, Makhi and Makhel Mitchell made another announcement that will help shape their paths to College Park. Before coming to play for the Terps in 2019, the 6-foot-9, four-star rising juniors will transfer from Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara to Montverde Academy (Fla.) to finish out their high school careers.

The twins will take their talents from the DMV with them to the Sunshine State, and Makhel went in depth with TSR about their recent pledge to the Terps and upcoming transfer to Montverde Academy.

Both Makhi and Makhel have been outspoken throughout their recruitment about their desire to stay close to home for college. For this reason, fellow local high-major program Georgetown posed perhaps the biggest threat to Maryland in this recruiting battle. But ultimately Maryland’s combination of proximity, coaching and atmosphere made it the right choice for the Mitchell twins.
