The Terps picked up a commitment Tuesday afternoon from Princess Anne (Va.) four-star wide receiver Darryl Jones.

Maryland seemingly became the favorite to land Jones early on after gaining a commitment from his 7-on-7 teammate, three-star quarterback Tyler DeSue.

DeSue told TSR after committing in April that he was looking to bring several players from the Tidewater region with him, mentioning Jones by name.

Wide receivers coach Chris Beatty was Jones' primary recruiter and has helped open up the Tidewater region for the Terps, who have also recently landed commitments from Tahj Capehart as well as Barndon and Breyon Gaddy.

"Coach Beatty, he keeps it real with you. He'll tell you what you need to hear," Jones told Rivals in June.

At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Jones is a bigger receiver that fits the mold of the type of pass catcher the Terps staff covets. He is also extremely versatile, playing on both sides of the ball for his high school team.

Jones, the No. 53-ranked wide receiver in the country and the No. 8-ranked player in the state of Virginia, chose the Terps over Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
