Maryland seems to have locked in on its primary 2018 quarterback target in Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek three-star pro-style passer Devin Leary, who attended the Terps recruiting cookout July 30 and was even more impressed with College Park than when he took his first trip there a few years ago.
“This was actually my second time getting to Maryland,” Leary told TSR. “I went there in my eighth-grade year, going into my freshman year, and this time around I really got to see the campus a lot more and more of the facilities and I really got to meet the coaching staff and it was just a great trip. I learned a lot about the academics that they have and the academics were really interesting. I just really loved the whole trip in general.”
Leary’s first trip to Maryland was due to a team visit by his high school squad and it occurred while former head coach Randy Edsall and his staff were still with the Terps. These days, the 6-foot-1, 167-pound Leary is being heavily recruited by the current coaches in College Park and he has developed a strong relationship with Terps offensive coordinator Walt Bell since receiving his Maryland offer in early May.
