Terps still on top for local LB Marcus Bowman following cookout

When TSR spoke with Upper Marlboro (Md.) Frederick Douglass 2017 three-star linebacker Marcus Bowman back in April after his visit to College Park for the Terps spring game, the 6-foot-3, 228-pound local recruit called Maryland his top school. A little more than three months later, not much has changed for the Prince George’s County native.

“They’re my top school that I’m looking at,” Bowman told TSR after attending the Terps recruiting cookout July 30. “I’m just looking at Maryland, Syracuse and South Carolina. But mostly I’m looking at Maryland right now. They have a good academic program, they’re close and they have a good coaching staff. Their coaches are really cool and I like their defense and how they play a 4-3 defense.”

Bowman, who holds offers from Iowa, Marshall, Maryland, Minnesota, N.C. State, Syracuse and Temple, has developed close relationships with the Terps and Orange coaching staffs, and despite not having an offer from the Gamecocks he has more recently built a bond with the South Carolina coaches after camping in Columbia, S.C., in June.
